Ex-minister Faruk Khan arrested
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Mohammad Faruk Khan, former minister of civil, aviation and tourism.
He was arrested at around 1am on Tuesday (15 October) from his cantonment residence.
Later, the RAB team handed him over to the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Additional Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallick confirmed the matter.
The police also said the arrest was made in light of several murder cases filed against Faruk in different police stations.
Faruk served as a minister from 2011-2013 and again in January-August 2024.
Prior to that, he was the minister of commerce from 2009-2011.
He is also a former member of parliament of the Gopalganj-1 constituency from 1996-2024.
Faruk retired as a lieutenant colonel from Bangladesh Army having served in the military from 1971-1995.
