Protesting Titumir College students take position inside college premises
A large number of policemen were seen stationed outside the college gate
Students of Government Titumir College in the capital's Mohakhali took position inside the campus near the gate this morning (19 November).
This is the second consecutive day of their demonstration, demanding the government upgrade their institution to a university.
A large number of the police were seen stationed outside the college gate.
Earlier yesterday (18 November), Titumir College students descended on the roads, blocking roads and even allegedly attacking a train, leaving many passengers injured.
Traffic movement was disrupted throughout the area, and its impact could be felt long after the demonstrations ended.
At 9pm, the protesting students declared a "College Shutdown" programme for an indefinite period of time. They cleared the roads in Mohakhali at around 9:30pm after pressing forth their demand to form a commission to upgrade their institution to a university.
The students said they would not participate in any classes or exams as part of this programme. They also announced a blockade today.
