Swadhin Bangla Betar singer Sujeo Shyam passes away
Sujeo was 78 years old at the time of his death and was battling cancer
Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artiste Sujeo Shyam passed away during early hours today (18 October).
He died around 2:50am while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), his daughter Monjuri Shyam confirmed the matter to the media.
Sujeo was 78 years old at the time of his death and was battling cancer. A pacemaker was installed in his heart recently, and an infection developed inside his body later.
Sujeo also had diabetes and kidney problems.
The Swadhin Bangla Betar artiste has many popular songs to his name, including 'Rokto Diye Nam Likhechi'.
He had composed the last song of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra.
Sujeo was awarded the Shilpakala Award in 2015 and Ekushey Padak in 2018 for his contributions to music.
Sujeo, son of a tea garden owner, was born on 14 March 1946 in Sylhet.
