Emerging team continues winning run over Ireland Wolves
Ireland Wolves now have to fly back home empty-handed as they couldn’t win a single game during the tour.
Bangladesh Emerging team have beaten Ireland Wolves comprehensively by 30 runs in the only unofficial T20I between the two sides on Tuesday at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
Despite initial stutters, the Bangladesh Emerging team posted a huge total of 184 for seven in their allocated 20 overs. Opener Anisul Islam Emon was sent back by Gareth Delany without bothering the scorers in the very first over. Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who starred in the one-dayers, couldn't get going either. When he got out scoring eight off 10 balls in the fifth over, the Bangladesh Emerging team were in some trouble at 24 for two.
However, skipper Saif Hassan kept the scoreboard moving. He added 40 off 4.2 overs with Yasir Ali before the latter was dismissed by Curtis Campher.
Yasir's dismissal brought Towhid Hridoy into the crease. The youngster, who impressed one and all in the one-dayers, started from where he left off. He stitched a partnership of 52 in 5.1 overs before Saif got outscoring a well-made 48 off 36. He struck five fours and a six.
Shamim Hossain came in at six and hit four sixes in no time and completely changed the momentum. The youngster, unfortunately, got run-out scoring 28 off 11 but provided the much-needed acceleration. Towhid Hridoy got to his fifty and his knock of 58 off just 35 balls ensured that the Bangladesh Emerging team crossed 180.
Chasing a big total, Ireland Wolves lost Gareth Delany in the very first over. The Wolves' chase never quite got going as they were always falling behind the required run-rate. Lorcan Tucker, who came in at four, played a few shots and gave Bangladesh Emerging team a slight scare but was sent back to the pavilion by leg-spinner Aminul Islam in the 14th over. Tucker made 38 off 22 balls and was the sixth batsman to go. This was Aminul's second wicket as he accounted for the dismissal of Stephen Doheny earlier.
Ireland Wolves, after Tucker's dismissal, still needed 74 off six overs with four wickets in hand. Mark Adair was undone by skipper Saif Hassan before Sumon Khan came back to wipe the tail off. Ireland Wolves could score 154 before getting bundled out in the 19th over.
Sumon Khan picked up four wickets giving away 28 runs. The leg-spin duo of Tanvir Islam and Aminul Islam shared four among themselves.
