Four thieves were apprehended near Cairo in Salah's homeland Egypt after they disguised themselves wearing masks of him to rob stores.
The armed gang of four members were arrested by the police while robbing a store in Hassanein Heikal Street, in the Nasr City neighbourhood of the Egyptian capital. All four of them were covering their faces with masks of Salah, the country's global superstar.
The group of thieves attempted to flee after security forces approached but were eventually caught.
Salah, Egypt's prodigal son, had risen to global stardom after joining Liverpool in 2017 and winning the golden boot in his very first season scoring 32 goals.
