Bangladesh Computer Council receives ‘World Summit on Information Society Award’

The Bangladesh Computer Council of ICT Division has achieved the "World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) Award-2020".
This is one of the world's most prestigious awards in the field of information technology.
In the e-employment category, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Bangladesh were nominated and Bangladesh became the final winner.
Earlier, applications were accepted in a total of 18 categories where nominations were given to 354 projects out of a total of 762 submissions. In the end, a total of 72 projects, four in each category, were declared as champions and a total of 18 projects in each category as the best project were declared as final winners.
The Bangladesh National Digital Architecture (BNDA) team of the BGD e-GOV CIRT Capacity Building Project under BCC in the e-Employment category achieved the award.
The BCC has established this e-recruitment platform as a shared service for all government agencies.
Over the past two years, the system has processed approximately 170,000 online applications for more than 70 positions through approximately 60 position notices.
Haolin Zhao, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) announced this at the "WSIS Forum 2020 Prizes Awards Ceremony" held virtually on Monday.
The Executive Secretary of the UN Escape Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Catalin Marinescu from the ITU, Katrina Naut, Ambassador of Dominican Republic, Secretary-General of the International Civil Aviation Organization Fang Liu and many others were virtually present at the ceremony.
Congratulating the Bangladesh Computer Council on this achievement, state Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that this award of the United Nations will inspire everyone to take more successful initiatives in the future.
The Senior Secretary of ICT Division N M Zeaul Alam PAA said, "Bangladesh is rapidly improving in the information technology sector. This achievement of BCC is really commendable. "
