New Delhi has been looking for an alternative to the Suez Canal for a long time. On November 18 this year, at the 'Sagar Manthan' conference, India's Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal announced the full opening of the 'Chennai-Vladivostok Maritime Corridor' (CVMC).
