No international fans allowed at Tokyo Olympics

Due to various concerns about the coronavirus pandemic, no international fans will be allowed to attend the postponed 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics this summer, according to organisers.
The Japanese government told the Olympic and Paralympic committees that entry to the country was "highly unlikely," reports the BBC.
The move, according to organisers, will aid in ensuring "safe and secure games for all participants and the Japanese public."

The Games are set to start on July 23. The Paralympics begin a month after the Olympics, on August 24.
The decision to exclude international spectators was made "in order to provide clarity to ticket holders," according to the organizers, who will be refunded.
The decision was based on the "challenging" Covid-19 situation in Japan and many other countries, worldwide travel restrictions, and the emergence of virus variant strains.
Organisers postponed the Olympics by a year in March last year because of the growing spread of coronavirus across the world.
It is the first time in the event's history it has been postponed, with more than 11,000 athletes from around 200 countries scheduled to take part in 2020.
