The dead turtles were recovered from different areas of the beach spanning from Himchhari and Teknaf from 11am to 7pm, said Tarikul Islam, a senior scientific officer of the Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institute.
He said the turtles succumbed to injuries sustained from fishing nets and ropes thrown by the fishermen while coming ashore to lay eggs.
"The turtles were found entangled in fishing nets, bearing bruise marks."
