4 Manikganj men to die for killing schoolgirl after rape
They strangulated the girl to death after violating her in turns
A tribunal here on Tuesday convicted four people and sentenced them to death for killing a schoolgirl after rape in 2008.
The condemned convicts are Enamul, 24, Ramzan, 25, Hakim, 28, and Faizul, 24, of Waiznagar village in Singair upazila. Of them, Enamul, Faizul and Ramzan were tried in absentia.
According to the prosecution, the convicts took Rumana Akter, a class V student of a local school in Waiznagar village of Singair upazila, to a nearby jute field while returning to her home from school on July 16, 2008.

Later, they strangulated the girl to death after violating her in turns and fled the scene leaving behind the body.
On information, police recovered the body later in the day.
A case was then filed in this connection and police submitted a chargesheet against four people.
After examining records and witnesses, Manikganj Woman and Child Prevention Tribunal Judge Ali Hossain handed down the verdict.
