Cigarettes worth Tk1.50 cr seized at Ctg airport
During luggage scanning, the cigarettes were found in the bags of some passengers
The Chattogram Customs House on Friday seized cigarettes worth Tk1.50 crore from 29 passengers at Shah Amanat International Airport in the port city.
Acting on a tip-off, customs officials seized around 7,183 cartons of cigarettes from 29 passengers, who reached the airport from Medina by a flight BG 138 of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
The seized cigarettes include Esse, Benson, Dunhill and other foreign brands, according to Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Customs House Riyadul Islam.
During luggage scanning, the cigarettes were found in the bags of the passengers, he said.
However, no cigarettes were found from any Hajj pilgrim, he added.
