ACC summons PWD contractor’s assoc high-ups
The anti-graft watchdog suspects the duo for illegal accumulation of wealth
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned two top leaders of Public Works Department (PWD) Contractor's Association as part of its probe into allegations of accumulating wealth out of known income sources.
Confirming the matter, ACC Director Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said that the anti-graft watchdog has sent letters to the PWD Contractor's Association President Mushfiqur Rahman Khan Hannan and General Secretary Shahe Alam asking them to be present at its Segunbagicha headquarters on March 3 morning.
The ACC Director Syed Iqbal Hossain sent the letters which read, the commission is looking into the allegations against GK Shamim and others who teamed up some government officials for embezzling millions of taka.
The letters also said that the ACC needs to record and review the statements of the persons to carry out the investigation.
The ACC began probe over illegal wealth accumulation followed by the anti-casino raids in September, 2019.
Currently, the commission is carrying out such 200 probes. The accused include politicians, businessmen, contractors, government officials and employees.
