Three cases filed over killing Bangladeshi migrants in Libya

Three separate cases were filed in Madaripur and Kishoreganj on Sunday over the killing of Bangladeshi migrants in Libya.
The family members of the murdered Bangladeshi migrants, hailing from Madaripur and Kishoreganj, filed the cases against the traffickers and middlemen on allegations of human trafficking, demanding ransom and killing the migrants.
Abdul Halim Hawladar, father of murdered Shamim Hawladar, filed a case with Madaripur Sadar Police Station against a middleman named Nazrul Islam and his wife.

Md Kamrul Islam, sub-inspector of the police station, told The Business Standard, "The case was filed for killing Shamim Hawladar and Zakir Hossain and injuring migrant Firoz Bepary in Libya. They went to Libya together with the help of the middleman."
"The family members mentioned that traffickers assured them of sending them to Italy via Libya. They took money for that too," he added.
Meanwhile, family members of murder victim Juel Hawladar filed a case with Rajoir Police Station in Madaripur, Khandakar Showkat, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station, confirmed.
On the other hand, another case was filed with Kishoreganj's Bhairab Poilice Station over killing six migrants, hailing from Bhairab upazila. Mobarok Hossain, brother of murdered Akash, filed the case mentioning the names of seven people.
Md Shaheen, OC of the police station, said, "The case was filed under a different section. The incident is a national issue. The incident is being monitored and investigated by police headquarters."
He said Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had already arrested one person in this connection.
At least 26 Bangladeshis – who were being trafficked to Europe illegally via Libya – were shot dead while 11 others were injured on Thursday allegedly by associates of a trafficker in revenge for his death at a Libyan town.
Among the killed and injured migrants, 15 are from Madaripur, nine from Kishoreganj and the rest are from other districts.
