Gold bars hidden in toy car seized at Ctg airport
Customs officials at Shah Amanat International Airport seized 10 gold bars from the luggage of a Bangladeshi national returning from Saudi Arabia. The bars were hidden in a toy car.
Mohammad Sajjad Hossain arrived at the airport on Thursday noon on a Biman Bangladesh Airline flight from Saudi Arabia.
He smuggled the gold bars hidden in a toy car, Chattogram Customs House Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin Rizvi told The Business Standard (TBS).
Customs officials at the airport became suspicious after the man was spotted behaving strangely following his arrival on a flight from Saudi Arabia.
Initial investigation revealed the man had ten gold bars, wrapped in black adhesive tape, hidden in the lithium battery of a toy car.
A gold recovery case is being filed, he added.
