DNCC finds Aedes mosquito larvae in 98 establishments
They also destroyed the mosquito breeding sites by spraying pesticides at 8,713 residences and construction sites
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has identified aedes mosquito larvae in 98 establishments after visiting 13,825 establishments, including residences and construction sites on Monday.
Owners of the establishments were fined Tk 2.9 lakhs in 16 cases following the drive conducted at 54 wards of the city from 9am to 12pm.
They also destroyed the mosquito breeding sites by spraying pesticides at 8,713 residences and construction sites.
For the purposes of combatting the spread of dengue mosquitoes in the city, a ward is divided into 10 sectors, while a sector is divided into 10 sub sectors. The City Corporation plans to complete DNCC within 10 days.
40 cleaning workers and ten mosquito control workers were assigned to examine the aedes mosquito larvae in residences and construction sites in the city.
So far, the DNCC has inspected 405,550 residences and construction sites, and they have found aedes larvae in 2,686 of those establishments, with the owners being fined a total of Tk 58.16 lakhs.
