Mayor Nasir to media: Popularize PM’s 10 initiatives
Bangladesh's national news agency BSS wants local newspapers to publish reports on the special initiatives
Chattogram City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said media can play the key role to popularize ten special initiatives of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The port city mayor said, "Those are for the development of the people. Implementation of the initiatives will accelerate the national uplift."
He said these when addressing a view exchange and deal signing programme at Chattogram Circuit House on Saturday afternoon. Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and Chattogram based Ekushey Patrika signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to report on the special initiatives of the premier.
The 10 initiatives of the PM include Ekti Bari, Ekti Khamar, Housing Project, Digital Bangladesh, Education Assistance Programme, Women Empowerment, Electricity for All, Community Clinic and Mental Health, Social Safety programme, Investment Development and Environment Protection.
BSS Managing Director Abul Kalam Azad said, "We want the local newspapers to publish reports on the special initiatives. We are signing deals with newspapers in divisional level to facilitate them to cover news on the topics. Later we will publish a book covering the news."
Chattogram Additional Divisional Commissioner Nurul Alam Nizami said that these initiatives will play a pivotal role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and turn Bangladesh into a middle-income country by 2021.
After the programme, BSS Managing Director Abul Kalam Azad and Ekhushey Patrika Editor Azad Talukder signed the agreement.
Chattogram District Deputy Commissioner Elius Hossain, PM's 10 Special Initiatives Focal Officer Mahfuza Jesmain, Ekushey Patrika's Editorial Advisor Nazrul Kabir Dipu, Advocate Rehana Begum Renu, Chattogram Reporters' Forum President Kazi Abul Mansur and General Secretary Aliur Rahman, among others, were also present.
