Arrest warrant issued against 4 BNP leaders including Minu
On 16 March, a sedition case was filed against them
A Rajshahi court has issued an arrest warrant against four BNP leaders including the party's chairperson's adviser and former Rajshahi mayor Mizanur Rahman Minu and Organising Secretary Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu in a sedition case.
The other accused in the case are Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP President Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul and General Secretary Shafiqul Islam Milon.
Judge Saiful Islam of Rajshahi Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on Wednesday noon issued the warrant after expressing satisfaction over the investigation report filed against them.
On 16 March, a sedition case was filed against them. After hearing on the same day, Rajshahi Chief Metropolitan Court judge Saiful Islam took the case into cognizance.
According to the case statement, BNP leader Minu publicly threatened Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in his speech during a rally in Rajshahi on 2 March.
On 9 March, Musabbirul Islam, the law affairs secretary of Rajshahi city AL unit, had filed a complaint with District Magistrate Abdul Jalil seeking the government's approval for filing a sedition case against Minu and three others over remarks on "repeating 1975 assassination."
