Rangpur AL leader Panna arrested in Merajul murder case

Rangpur Metropolitan Police today arrested former vice-president of Rangpur city Awami League (AL) Shah Md Nabi Ullah Panna in connection with the fruit seller Merajul murder case.
"We arrested Panna from his residence in Khamarpara area of the city in the early morning today," officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali police station Md Ataur Rahman told BSS.
Panna is an accused in the murder case of fruit seller Meraj, who was shot dead when police and AL leaders and activists attacked the students and people in the Anti-Discrimination Student-People Movement on 19 July.
"Meraj was shot dead. Ambia Khatun, the mother of the victim, filed the murder case accusing 21 people on 18 August last in the court. Panna has been arrested in that case. There are several cases against him," the OC added.
"We will produce Panna to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court with a 10-day remand prayer later today," the OC said.
