Travel ban imposed on ex-NSI DG Jobayer, his wife
Acting judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court Fazana Yasmin passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)
A court today imposed a travel ban on former director general (DG) of National Security Intelligence (NSI) Major General (Retd) TM Jobayer, and his wife Fahamina Masud over massive graft allegations.
Acting judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court Fazana Yasmin passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
"TM Jobayer made huge wealth in his name and the names of his family members through corruption and abuse of power. The ACC is probing the allegation of buying a house in London for GBP 29, 45,000. At this stage, the accused is trying to flee the country to evade justice," ACC public prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir said in his arguments.
Meanwhile, the same court today imposed a travel ban on former fisheries and livestock minister Abdur Rahman over allegations of corruption.
ACC deputy director Md Anwarul Haque pleaded to slap a travel ban on the former minister, saying the anti-graft body is probing allegations of graft against Rahman and his family.
He is trying to flee the country to escape justice, the ACC plea added.
