A protest meeting took place in Bangladesh Bank premises by the bank officials today (13 February) at 10am over the attack on Nagad Administrator Badiuzzaman Didar.
The All-Party Unity Council, led by the Bangladesh Bank's Sabuj Dal, strongly condemned the attack on Badiuzzaman Didar.
Anisur Rahman, director of Bangladesh Bank's Statistics Department, said, "For the past 15 years, corruption and looting at Nagad have thrived under the protection of a fascist government. Those involved in these crimes, whether inside or outside the bank, must be brought to justice. The administrator appointed by Bangladesh Bank is working tirelessly to identify the masterminds behind this corruption, which is why he has been attacked."
Mizanur Rahman Akon, president of Sabuj Dal, remarked, "This attack was carried out to obstruct the investigation into corruption at Nagad. It is not just an attack on an individual but a deliberate assault on Bangladesh Bank."
Abdul Kuddus, president of Zia Parishad, called for special security measures for Bangladesh Bank officials on special assignments.
He said, "Officials carrying out high-risk duties should receive risk allowances, and the perpetrators must be brought to justice without delay."
Victim Badiuzzaman Didar shared, "Since taking office, I have been receiving various threats. Although I informed the bank authorities, they only advised me to file a General Diary (GD). Even after notifying the Security Management Division, no proper action was taken, which ultimately led to this attack.'
He added, "This is extremely unfortunate, and effective measures must be taken to prevent such incidents in the future."
The speakers also expressed concerns over the lack of security for Bangladesh Bank officials despite their crucial responsibilities. They urged Bangladesh Bank authorities to take strict measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
The meeting was conducted by Mohammad Roknuzzaman, additional director of Bangladesh Bank.
Speakers at the event included Anisur Rahman, director of Bangladesh Bank; Mizanur Rahman Akon, president of Sabuj Dal; official Badiuzzaman Didar; additional director Amitabh
Chakraborty; Abdul Kuddus, president of Zia Parishad; and joint director Sahedul Islam.
Yesterday (12 February) a group of unidentified youths attacked the car of Nagad Administrator Badiuzzaman Didar on Road-12 in Banani of the capital when he was returning home from the Nagad Headquarters in Kamal Ataturk Avenue.
