Some miscreants tried to kill Suja Uddin Rubel, a staff reporter of Somoy TV, in Cox's Bazar early Sunday.
The incident took place at around 12:30 am in front of the Zila Parishad Market adjacent to the Cox's Bazar Police Super Office.
Rubel, who also works in the Daily Cox's Bazar as a staff reporter, said the miscreants attacked him from behind while he was returning home from the office of Daily Cox's Bazar on foot.
They tried to strangle him to death. When he fell unconscious, the attackers left him on the road and fled the scene.
The miscreants took away his two mobile phones, including his iPhone, but they did not take the cash from him.
Later, some pedestrians took Rubel to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital. After taking primary treatment there, he went home.
A physician of the hospital said, "There are injury marks on his neck."
Masum Khan, officer-in-charge of Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station, said, "Police have launched a drive to nab the miscreants."
