Convicted war criminal dies at Kashimpur Jail
Prison authorities said the dead war criminal was suffering from various diseases including heart problems.
A convicted war criminal, who was sentenced to death for his role during the liberation war, has died at the Kashimpur High-Security Central Jail in Gazipur on Friday.
Prison authorities said the deceased, Mahbubur Rahman (72), was suffering from various diseases including heart problems.
He is the son of late Abdul Wadud of Rainhati area of Mirzapur, Tangail.
Senior Jail Superintendent Shafiqul Islam said Mahbubur Rahman was sentenced to death in a war crimes case.
"Mahbubur was already suffering from various diseases including heart problems. As his condition deteriorated on Friday morning, he was taken to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital," he said.
"Later, the doctor declared him dead. He had been imprisoned in this jail since the conviction. His body will be handed over to his family after completing the legal processes," he added.
