Beat policing to play vital role in curbing crimes: IGP
He made the remarks on Tuesday while speaking at an event at Shapla conference room of the police headquarters. He presided over the programme.
Inspector General of Police Dr Benazir Ahmed has said beat policing had been launched to reach the doorsteps of the people and running such policing successfully would play a key role in curbing crimes.
Emphasising the need to increase communication with people, he said police would have to increase the practice of preventive policing besides proactive policing to curb crimes.

The IGP instructed all field officials to continue monitoring and intensive supervision of every case until it was resolved, saying top officials would have to increase inspection.

"The behaviour of the police has changed positively. Those who come to the police station to get services do not face misconduct by police officials. In fact, we want to forget the word 'misconduct'. We are working to that end," he said.
Benazir said to be a people-friendly police force, the police personnel have to behave and help them.
"We will not spare the police members who are allegedly involved in narcotics. Zero tolerance is being shown against narcotics, and it will be so in the future as well."
