3 more arrested over attack on Sunamganj Hindu houses
"So far 33 people have been arrested in connection with the attack"
Police on Saturday night arrested three more people in a case filed over an attack on the Hindu houses in Sunamganj's Shalla upazila.
Confirming the matter to Prothom Alo, Shalla police station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazmul Haque said, "So far 33 people have been arrested in connection with the attack."
On 17 March, nearly one hundred houses of the Hindu community in Noagaon village of Shalla were attacked after one of the residents reportedly posted against Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mamunul Haque on Facebook.
The incident caused a stir across the country. Local Union Parishad Chairman Bakul Majumder and police filed two separate cases with Shalla Police Station.
Thirty people were arrested in the next two days after the attack.
Later on 19 March, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested Shahidul Islam, the mastermind of the attack.
