3 Neo-JMB men held for Chattogram police box blast
Police claimed to have identified around 10 JMB members involved in the attack
The counter-terrorism unit of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has arrested three youths in connection with carrying out an explosion at a traffic police box in the port city.
The arrestees are Md Saifullah, 24, Md Emran, 25 and Md Abu Saleh, 25. They are the members of Neo-JMB -- an ultra-radical offshoot of the banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), said Additional Deputy Commissioner of CMP Polash Kanti Nath today.
Police arrested them on Sunday night by raiding a building on the DC Road in Ballia Police Station, said Polash, who led the drive.
Polash said those who are involved in launching the blast at the police box are all Neo-JMB members. Emran and Saifullah joined the Neo-JMB via Selim, Jahir and Akib who had been on the run since the incident. Abu Saleh joined the group through Saifullah, said Polash.
On February 28, some members of the banned militant outfit carried out the explosion targeting the police box at Gate-2 using improvised explosive devices made by themselves.
Police claimed to have identified around 10 JMB members involved in the attack.
