Man killed as rickshaw gets crushed between bus, truck at Paltan
A man was killed when a battery-operated rickshaw got crushed between a bus and an onion-laden truck that collided head-on at the Paltan intersection in Dhaka at around 5am today (17 November).
Police identified the deceased as Zakir Hossain, 60, who worked at Mercantile Bank PLC. He hailed from Daganbhuiyan upazila in Feni, reports Prothom Alo.
Paltan Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Arif Ullah said critically injured Zakir was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 6am, where doctors declared him dead.
The rickshaw puller sustained minor injuries in the accident, he added.
Zakir's body was later sent to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for an autopsy.
Both drivers of the bus and the truck fled the scene right after the incident while the vehicles were impounded, said police.
