Litton set to join Asia Cup squad in Lahore, but BCB President 'not aware' of it
"Firstly, I'm not aware that he is leaving tonight. I didn't hear anything like that. I have been in regular touch with him, but I don't know anything about him joining the squad. I don't think he is going, because I would know if that was the case," Nazmul said.
Litton Das who was ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup due to viral fever, is now set to join the squad in Pakistan. He will fly to Lahore tonight on a flight at 9:30 pm.
A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) source confirmed the matter to The Business Standard (TBS).
The BCB is waiting for ACC's decision on whether Litton will replace anyone in the squad or will be directly added to the squad.
However, BCB President Nazmul Hassan is not aware of Litton flying to Lahore tonight. He was asked today regarding the Litton issue and he answered "This is something new" to him.
"Firstly, I'm not aware that he is leaving tonight. I didn't hear anything like that. I have been in regular touch with him, but I don't know anything about him joining the squad. I don't think he is going, because I would know if that was the case," Nazmul said.
"It's surprising because the selectors met me today and they didn't say anything regarding that. We need ACC's permission for that. I talked with the captain, coach, and CEO today and they didn't tell me anything. This is something new to me," he added.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz's back problem is only one of several minor injuries that could affect the Tigers' performance in the Asia Cup.
Bangladesh used a makeshift opening pair in their last game against Afghanistan yesterday, and the risk paid off when Miraz scored a century and the Tigers won by 89 runs in Lahore. Bangladesh's qualification to the Super Four was also secured with the victory.
