73 police officials promoted to DIG ranks

The government has promoted 73 officials including superintendents of police and additional deputy inspector generals to the rank of deputy inspector general.
In two separate orders from the president today (18 August), Ministry of Home Affairs Deputy Secretary Mahabur Rahman promoted the police officials in the supernumerary category.
According to sources, the officers are mostly from 12th, 15th, 17th, and 18th batches of the Bangladesh Civil Service. Despite possessing the necessary qualifications for promotion, many of them have been overlooked until now.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, one of the promoted officers, told The Business Standard, "The life in past years was miserable. We had been asked by the family members and relatives why we were not promoted but we didn't have any answer.
"From today we can breathe peacefully," he added.
Today, a superior selection board nodded off for the promotion of 74 police officials to the rank of DIG. Later in the evening, the ministry published the government order just dropping one from the recommendation.
