BGB seizes another 440kg hilsa worth over Tk9 lakh in Cumilla, smugglers flee
The 440 kg of seized Hilsa fish is valued at approximately Tk9.68 lakh, and has been sold with the proceeds deposited into the government treasury
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 440kg of Hilsa fish being smuggled across the Indian border in Cumilla.
The fish were recovered earlier this morning (13 September) from Monora, a border area in Brahmanpara upazila.
This comes just two days after another 650 kg of Hilsa were confiscated by the BGB at the Anandapur border in Burichang upazila on Wednesday (11 September).

The commander of the 60th BGB Battalion, AM Jaber Bin Jabbar, confirmed the matter.
"The Hilsa was found 500 yards inside Bangladesh from border pillar 2057/2-S in the Monora area of Brahmanpara upazila. No one was arrested at the scene, as the smugglers likely fled upon hearing the arrival of BGB personnel," he said.
