Coldplay's 12th album will be its last
Coldplay has announced that after the release of their 10th album on 4 October, they only plan to release two more albums before stepping away from the studio.
In an interview with Apple Music, frontman Chris Martin confirmed that the band would limit their discography to 12 albums.
"We are only going to do 12 proper albums and that's real. Because less is more and, for some of our critics, even less would be even more! It's really important that we have that limit," commented Martin.
He explained that creating albums requires significant effort and that he wants to give the band members more time for themselves.
Despite retiring from studio albums, Martin emphasised that Coldplay will continue making music in other ways, ensuring their creative output doesn't completely stop.
