Floating jetty in Tripura to connect Gomati with Meghna
The jetty is expected to put Sonamura on the map for Indo-Bangladesh Protocol Route by connecting Sonamura with Daudkandi of Cumilla
Indo-Bangla waterways to connect Gomati river of Tripura with Meghna river of Bangladesh. An initiative to this is the floating jetty of Sonamura.
The chief minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb hailed the efforts undertaken to construct the floating jetty at Sonamura, Tripura, in just 3 weeks.
According to officials, the construction of the makeshift jetty was done on war footing mode. It is a floating jetty and around 700 plastic boxes were used to in its making.
The jetty is expected to put Sonamura on the map for Indo-Bangladesh Protocol Route by connecting Sonamura with Daudkandi of Cumilla.
The Union Minister of State for Shipping also expressed his delight at the prospect of this jetty bringing economic development in North-east. For the locals, the jetty is a manifestation of the promise of economic development of the border region.
